With the Internet delivering so many resources to our desktops today, we needed an easy way to consolidate the websites our district publishes. Google Apps to the rescue! As a participant in the Google Apps Education Program, we are now using Google Apps to host a simple site for our most important web resources: http://home.waltoncsd.org
Using the Quicklinks on the right of the home page provides easy navigation to your school resources:
- GroupWise E-mail/Calendar via WebAccess
– Files Stored in User Folders via NetStorage
– Google Docs & Spreadsheets
– SchoolDude
Each of these links require the use of your network UserID and your mailbox password or UserID password, because they are solely for the use of Walton Central School Personnel.
An additional page provides access to information resources:
- The Walton Central School District main website
- ClassTrac resource for teachers, and
- CompassLearning Odyssey for computer assisted instruction.
A final page – Collaboration – points to two new tools in the district’s web services:
- warriortechs – this WordPress blog authored by Gayla, Cindy & Tim in the IT Department
- wcs-warriors – a private Wikispaces wiki designed for collaborative staff use
These links to Internet-delivered resources represent just the tip of the iceberg, really! In addition to these, other sites available both inside and outside of the school district bring Library research and reading assistance to our students and Special Education information to our CSE personnel.
